    Exceptional

Excelent Hotel in a town full of History. Beautiful setting. Excelent breakfast and very friendly staff

    Very good

Restaurant had a good ambience, the service was good and the food choice and quality was excellent and competitively priced. The location was in my opinion the best in Rye at the top of a hill overlooking the harbour, very picturesque and within easy walking distance of the entire town.

My only dislike was the decoration of the room which was tired and old fashioned. The wallpaper was hanging off the wall above the door to the en suite and the green plain carpet was marked and did not look clean. On balance it was ok but in need of refurbishment.

    Fabulous

the location was excellent for exploring the surrounding area

    Superb

All of the staff were friendly, good location in a beautiful part of Rye and the bar was a friendly experiance with two good bitters on draught. My wife and I will return ti the hotel as soon as an oppotunity arises.

The wall paper in the bedroom requires resticking around the window and the mastic could be renewed in the bathroom.

    Superb

The Hope Anchor has a friendly and comfortable atmosphere with very a good service from the staff. I much enjoyed my stay and thought that the b&b was good value for money.

warm welcome from all staff; comfortable rooms; excellent breakfast

    Exceptional

The Hope Anchor is very welcoming and cosy and is perfectly situated for exploring as it's on one of Rye's cobbled streets in the middle of the small town. Our room was very clean and had a lovely personal feel - more like staying in a friend's guest room rather than a hotel. The staff were friendly and professional and breakfast was also good. Just wished we had planned to stay longer than one night!

our two nights at the hope anchor were very enjoyable , we had no reason to complain at all and were made very welcome .

    Very good

lovely setting and helpful and friendly staff

appreciate one is in an old building, but a bit squashed in en suites and not enough headroom for 6 footers in the shower. Should have liked to have had more than 2 tissues and the wobbly noise on the extractor fan in the en suite was annoying.

    Exceptional

The location is fantastic,as its situated in the center of Rye.breakfast was great and staff very helpful. However,we did feel that it was little overpriced, for what it is really, the wallpaper was little torn in our room, but then again you are paying for the location of the hotel, rather then luxury. Its more for couples, then family. But the camber sands beach, which is 4 miles away was absolutely fantastic, very clean.next day we went to a ramsgate beach and it simply could not compete with camber sands.Rye is historical little gem and I loved it.for music lovers, great bands in the afternoon,on the beer garden, perfect.

    Fabulous

All done nicely but temperature of the bath room was unbearably hot because of Hot heated panel

    Good

    Excellent location with great views

Price to quality ratio will make me look for another hotel in the future. Some other hotels in Rye offer better value for money. The views do not justify the price.

    Fabulous

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Although the menu was limited the food was excellant. The room was clean and very well appointed.

The room we were in had sloping ceilings which made getting dressed difficult. You even had to bend to get out of the bath we both have bad backs so the room was not ideal.

    Very good

It is a small, friendly place with an old world charm. All staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was clean and cosy. There was a good choice for breakfast and the dining room was light and airy.

    Good

Rye is a wonderful, historic and interesting place and the Hope Anchor is part of that ambiance.

Unfortunately this hotel is using the reputation of Rye and the history to over charge. It is not London or Milan and the price it too high. There is no lift, which we knew, but it is a problem with heavy international suitcases. The WiFi did not work in our room, there was a router box outside on the landing but that was not working. The room got hot because the towel rack was huge and over heated the room, but the sash windows will not stay open. So we had to use a book to prop the windows open. The water pressure in the shower was pathetic, it is an old hotel, but it is high class and should have high class facilities. Worst of all was the bed (room 6, mentioned in a previous patrons comment) has not been repaired. The wooden slats under the mattress are bowed and sagged and consequently you roll into the middle all night. We had never slept in a four poster bed and were very disappointed. We explained this to reception the next day.
